Monaco has a reputation for being unaffordable. It is expensive, but not uniformly so: the gap between a twenty-guest wedding at a private villa and a hundred-and-fifty-guest reception at a palace hotel is far wider than most couples expect. This guide sets out realistic 2026 figures, and flags the costs that appear late.
What actually drives the budget
Three decisions account for most of the final number, and they compound each other.
- Guest count. Everything in Monaco is priced per head. Cutting the list by twenty people saves more than any negotiation.
- The venue. A palace hotel bundles catering and service at a fixed standard. A private villa costs less to hire but requires caterers, staff, furniture and often generators.
- The date. Grand Prix week and peak August can double venue rates. Late September delivers the same weather for materially less.
Indicative 2026 costs
| Item | Indicative range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Palace hotel reception (per guest) | 350 - 700 € | Dinner, service, standard beverage package |
| Private villa hire (day) | 8 000 - 30 000 € | Venue only, everything else on top |
| Yacht charter (day) | On request | Depends heavily on size and season |
| Photography (full day) | 3 500 - 9 000 € | Two photographers, three-week delivery |
| Videography | 3 000 - 8 000 € | Often booked with photography |
| Florals and styling | 4 000 - 20 000 € | The most elastic line in the budget |
| Chauffeured car (day) | On request | See our vehicle guides below |
| Wedding planner | 10 - 15 % of budget | Effectively compulsory for non-residents |
| Music (DJ or band) | 2 000 - 12 000 € | Live band at the top of the range |
These are ranges observed on the Riviera, not quotations. Every venue prices its own way, and the only number that means anything is the one on your own proposal.
Three worked examples
Intimate — 20 guests
Symbolic ceremony on a terrace, dinner in a private dining room, one photographer, one car. Realistically 25 000 to 45 000 €. This is the format that surprises couples most: it delivers Monaco without the machinery of a large wedding.
Classic — 80 guests
Palace hotel, full reception, two photographers, videographer, florals, transport for the couple and close family, planner. Realistically 120 000 to 220 000 €.
Grand — 150 guests
Palace ballroom or private estate, live band, extensive styling, multi-day programme with a welcome dinner and a farewell brunch. From 300 000 € upwards, with no meaningful ceiling.
The costs couples forget
- Guest transport. Monaco is vertical and parking is scarce. Shuttles are not optional for an evening event.
- The welcome dinner. With guests flying in, a Friday dinner effectively becomes a second event.
- Supplier travel and accommodation. A photographer or band brought from abroad adds flights and hotel nights.
- Overtime. Music curfews and staff hours are contractual. Running two hours late is a line item.
- The legal ceremony at home. Small, but it exists — most couples cannot legally marry in Monaco. Our complete guide to getting married in Monaco explains why.
- Service charges and taxes quoted separately from headline per-head prices.
Where to save without it showing
- Move the date. Late September or early October: same light, materially lower rates, fewer crowds.
- Choose Friday or Sunday. Saturday carries a premium at every venue.
- Shorten the guest list before cutting quality. Twenty fewer guests funds the photographer, the band and the cars.
- Spend on what survives the day. Photography and video are the only elements you still have in ten years. Florals are the first thing to be thrown away.
- Use the setting. A terrace over Port Hercule at sunset needs almost no styling. Paying for decoration in Monaco is often paying to compete with the view.

FAQ — Monaco wedding budget
What is the minimum realistic budget?
For a genuine Monaco wedding with a small guest list, professional photography and a proper dinner, plan from around 25 000 €. Below that, consider a nearby Riviera venue with a Monaco photo session.
Are palace hotels always more expensive than villas?
Not once everything is counted. A villa looks cheaper on the hire fee, then adds catering, staff, furniture, sound and sometimes power. For under sixty guests, a hotel is often the lower total.
Do venues require a minimum spend?
Frequently, especially on Saturdays in high season. Ask for the minimum spend, not just the hire fee — it is the number that determines your real floor.
How far ahead should we book?
Twelve months for a Saturday in June or September. Three to six months is workable off-season or midweek.
Is a planner worth it?
For a non-resident couple, yes. Supplier access, venue negotiation and day-of coordination in a foreign jurisdiction are difficult to run remotely, and the fee is usually smaller than the errors it prevents.
